History and Background
House Lumière is an ancient and respected noble family in Elyria, known for their unwavering devotion to the Faith of the Sacred Flame and their close ties to the Knights of the Silver Order. For generations, the Lumière family has produced exceptional paladins, clerics, and warriors who have served with distinction in the Silver Order.
The family’s ancestral home, Beacon Keep, is located near Angel’s Landing on the coast of Elyria. The keep is known for its impressive lighthouse, which serves both as a navigational aid and a symbol of the family’s commitment to guiding others towards the light of the Sacred Flame.
Connection to the Knights of the Silver Order
House Lumière has a long-standing tradition of sending their children to train with the Knights of the Silver Order. Many family members have risen to high ranks within the order, and the house is known for producing some of the most skilled and devout knights in recent history.
The family maintains a wing in their keep dedicated to housing and training aspiring Silver Order knights, and they often host gatherings for senior members of the order.
Notable Family Members
Lord Gideon Lumière (48)
The current head of House Lumière and Korbin’s father. A stern and devout man, Gideon is a retired Knight-Captain of the Silver Order. He struggles to understand Korbin’s logical approach to faith and tradition.
Lady Seraphina Lumière (42)
Korbin’s mother, a respected Cleric of the Sacred Flame. Known for her healing abilities and charitable work, she is more sympathetic to Korbin’s curiosity but worried about the potential consequences of his questions.
Aldric Lumière (24)
Korbin’s eldest brother. A rising star in the Knights of the Silver Order, Aldric is everything his parents hoped for in an heir. He’s conflicted about Korbin’s situation, torn between family loyalty and his duty to the order.
Cassius Lumière (22)
The middle brother, Cassius is a skilled diplomat and is being groomed for a political career within the Elyrian court. He’s the most socially adept of the siblings and often smoothed over Korbin’s social faux pas before moving to Lumen.
Korbin Lumière (16)
The youngest brother.
Elara Lumière (10)
Korbin’s younger sister. Bright and inquisitive, she shares some of Korbin’s curiosity but is better at hiding it. She looks up to Korbin and misses him greatly since his departure.
House Lumière and Korbin’s Situation
Korbin’s logical approach to faith and his questions about the treatment of mageborn individuals have caused significant stress within the family. While they love their son, they fear his behavior could damage their standing with both the church and the Silver Order.
The decision to send Korbin on a “pilgrimage” to Westemär was a difficult one for the family. They hope that exposure to the ruins of Drakkenheim will help Korbin understand the dangers of unchecked arcane power and reinforce the teachings of the Sacred Flame.
Unbeknownst to Korbin, his family has also quietly reached out to contacts in the Silver Order near Drakkenheim, hoping they might guide and mentor him during his time there.
