Module 1: The Two Problems

The Worn Path Crash Course — Module 1 of 6

What This Module Covers

Wellspring is trying to solve two problems simultaneously. Most projects address one and ignore the other. The central claim of The Worn Path is that they’re inseparable — two expressions of the same underlying failure.

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Articulate both problems clearly and concisely
  • Explain why they’re connected
  • Describe why solving only one guarantees failure

Sequence

Read these in order. Each builds on the previous.

  1. 1.1 — The Economics Problem Why housing is broken, and why it’s broken by design.

  2. 1.2 — The Village Problem Why community is broken, and why the usual fixes don’t work.

  3. 1.3 — The Inseparability Thesis Why these are the same problem. The Worn Path’s core claim.

  4. 1.4 — Exercises Targeted reading, reflection prompts, and the first manifesto writing artifact.

What’s Next

Module 2 builds the philosophical framework — the analytical lens that makes everything in Modules 3–5 cohere.
